Form 4 Short Stories : QWERTYUIOP- Moral Values

Short Story : Based  on the short story “QWERTYUIOP”, discuss a moral value you  have learnt.

Based on the short story “QWERTYUIOP”,  a moral value that I have learnt is to be courage and diplomatic when facing challenges in life.

First of all, I learnt that Lucy is diplomatic in handling problem. Although she knew that she was confronting a supernatural, she did not run away but tried to find ways to solve the problem.  For example, she used the correcting fluid to correct typing errors caused by the spirit of Miss Broome. Finally, she won in the battle with Miss Broome’s ghost in the story.

In addition, Lucy is also determined to maintain her job despite her office was haunted by the supernatural. In other words, she is not afraid of facing challenges in life. She tried to communicate with the ghost with great courage and she was successful to persuade the supernatural to go away.  She maintained her job finally.

Lastly,  Lucy is compassionate when facing the ghost of Miss Broome. Lucy found out that Miss Broome had sacrificed her whole life to the Ross and Bannister Company.  She was loyal to the company even after she had passed away. Upon knowing the story of Miss Broome, Lucy successfully convinced her to leave the office to continue  to serve the late Mr. Bannister. Lucy managed to calm her down and the ghost left the office finally.

In conclusion, I learnt that we should be courage and diplomatic when facing challenges in life.

Based on the short story “QWERTYUIOP” , the  moral values that I have  learnt are courageous, perseverance and compassion.

First of all, I learnt to be brave like Lucy Beck. She showed her courageous to confront supernatural, the spirit of Miss Broome.  Besides, she did not run away from her duty. For example, she used the correcting fluid to correct typing errors caused by the spirit of Miss Broome. Finally, she won in the  battle with Miss Broome’s ghost in the story. Thus, we should face challenges and problems in life with great courage.

In addition, I also learnt the value of perseverance. It is important in facing challenges because we should not give up easily. This moral value can be learned from the main character, Lucy Beck. Lucy was determined to get a job. She persevered to keep her job although the ghost of Miss Broome kept disturbing her. She was successful to persuade the supernatural to go away and she maintained her job.

Lastly, I also learn the value of compassion. Lucy is a kind-hearted person. Although she disliked her uncle Bert  who was an  alcoholic jobless, she learned to accept her uncle.
Moreover, she felt sorry for Miss Broome and managed to calm her down. Miss Broome’s ghost finally left the office and peace restored.  This shows that she was a compassionate person.

In conclusion, we should learn to  be courage, persevere and compassionate  in order to face all challenges  in life.
